The USA team pulled off a historic upset by clinching a dramatic Super Over win against Pakistan in their T20 World Cup clash in Texas. USA’s chase of 160 runs ended at 159/3 in 20 overs, thanks to Monank Patel’s 50 off 38 balls.
Babar Azam stood out for Pakistan with a knock of 44 off 43 balls as they posted 159 runs on the board. In the Super Over, USA batted first and posted 18/1, with Aaron Jones scoring 11 off 6 balls. Pakistan could only manage 13/1 in reply, with Saurabh Netravalkar taking a crucial wicket.
Recently, USA pacer Ali Khan and former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif had a discussion featured on Times of Karachi. A video of their conversation has gone viral on social media, where Rashid Latif remarked to Ali Khan, ‘The public of Pakistan is unhappy with you.’
During the conversation, Rashid Latif asked Ali Khan about their strategy against Pakistan. Ali Khan replied, highlighting that Pakistan had underestimated the USA and also pointed out that Babar Azam and others lacked intent so they decided to put pressure on them.
After consecutive defeats to USA and India, Pakistan missed out on qualifying for the super 8s. Babar Azam will present a report on the team’s subpar performance to the PCB, who will soon decide on his captaincy.
