Indian national cricket team captain, Rohit Sharma, has given a befitting reply to Inzamam-ul-Haq’s allegations of ball tampering during the T20 World Cup 2024 match against Australia.
Inzamam-ul-Haq specifically mentioned Arshdeep Singh, claiming that the ball does not reverse swing so early in the innings and suggested that Arshdeep must have tampered with the ball to achieve this effect.
This statement from the former Pakistan captain has sparked controversy. During a press conference held one day before India’s semi-final match against England, Rohit Sharma was asked about these allegations.
The Indian opener responded by saying that the match is being played in the Caribbean, not in conditions like those in Australia, England, or South Africa. He explained that the heat causes the pitches to dry out, which can naturally lead to reverse swing for fast bowlers.
Rohit Sharma also urged Inzamam-ul-Haq to think carefully before making such statements and ended his response with a smirky smile. Here’s what he said in the press conference:
“It’s so hot here, and the pitches are dry. If it won’t reverse swing here, where will it be? We aren’t playing in England or Australia. At Least use your brain,” Rohit Sharma said.
Meanwhile, Arshdeep Singh dismissed key players like David Warner, Tim David, and Matthew Wade, helping India secure a 24-run victory over Australia and advance to the semifinals of the tournament.
