Arshdeep, Deepak Chahar register India’s third-best bowling performance in power play – ProBatsman

India pacers Deepak Chahar and Arshdeep Singh restricted South Africa to 30 for five to record India’s third-best bowling performance in powerplay at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday.
Team India registered their best bowling performance in powerplay against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup 2022, when the senior pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Arshdeep Singh restricted Mohammad Nabi-led side to 21 for five after six overs.

While the Men in Blue churned out their second best bowling performance in the powerplay in 2016 at Visakhapatnam against Sri Lanka when they reduced the Islanders to 29 for six within six overs.

The fast bowling duo of Arshdeep Singh (3/32)and Deepak Chahar (2/24) came down like the ton of bricks on South Africa and dismantled their batting order with their swing influenced bowling. 

South Africa huffed and puffed their way to get a three-digit target on the board. The Temba Bavuma-led side managed to score 106 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. 
Team India, in reply, chased down the total in 16.4 overs courtesy of Suryakumar Yadav and KL Rahul’s unbeaten half-centuries. With this win, team India goes 1-0 up in the three-match T20I series.
