Gautam Gambhir has enlisted former all-rounder Abhishek Nayar as the assistant coach for Team India. Gambhir, recently appointed as the head coach of the senior men’s national team, previously worked with Nayar at Kolkata Knight Riders during IPL 2024.
Abhishek Nayar is likely to join the coaching staff, with Vinay Kumar being considered for the bowling coach position. Gambhir himself recommended the former India and Karnataka pacer. Meanwhile, fielding coach T Dilip might be retained, despite earlier talks of bringing in South African legend Jonty Rhodes.
It’s highly likely that Dilip will remain with the senior men’s national team. Gambhir resigned from his position as the Knight Riders’ mentor after one season to become India’s head coach. The former opener was widely praised for KKR’s success in IPL 2024.
