Former Mumbai player Abhishek Nayar is reportedly set to take on the role of India’s batting coach. Nayar is currently the batting coach for Kolkata Knight Riders and has worked extensively with Gautam Gambhir at the franchise.
The report suggests that Gambhir pushed for Abhishek Nayar’s inclusion in the Indian dressing room and has apparently received a nod from the BCCI. Notably, Gambhir has been given full authority to pick the coaching staff.
Notably, Gautam Gambhir was appointed as the mentor of Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2024, and he led the team to the title. Impressed with his coaching, the BCCI consulted him to take up the role of head coach of Team India.
Additionally, there have been reports that Gautam Gambhir has reached out to former South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes to assume the role of fielding coach for Team India. Notably, both Gambhir and Rhodes worked together for the Lucknow Super Giants in the past.
